Barababy is a small, family-owned Swedish baby and children's shop created by parents. We started Barababy because we felt there was a lack of a more personal alternative to the large children's stores – a place where products feel curated, not just listed in a catalog.

We choose products one by one, looking at materials, function, quality, origin, and how the product actually fits into family life. Sometimes we find an entire brand we love, sometimes just a single, truly great product.

We prioritize brands and products with a clear origin and work extensively with European designers and manufacturers. Our range includes products from Sweden, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Estonia, and other parts of Europe.

Origin varies between products and brands. Therefore, when the information is available, we strive to display both where the product is designed and where it is manufactured directly on the product page.

For us, sustainability primarily means choosing with care. We try to find products that can be used for a long time, passed down between siblings, or have a life even after the initial baby period.

We look at materials, production, origin, and relevant certifications when the information is available. At the same time, we want to avoid broad environmental claims that cannot be substantiated for the individual product, which is why we try to be as concrete as possible in our product descriptions.

Always start with the product's recommended age and the safety information found on the product page or from the manufacturer. A product suitable for an older child might not be appropriate for a baby – even if it looks soft or simple.

For products intended for the very youngest, we are extra careful not to assume an age based on the appearance of the product. If you are unsure about a specific product, please feel free to ask us.

They mean different things – and a label rarely says everything about a product. Organic cotton describes how the cotton has been grown. GOTS encompasses requirements throughout several parts of the textile production chain. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 concerns testing for harmful substances in textiles. FSC is used for wood and wood-based materials from responsibly managed forests, while BPA-free is used, among other things, for materials in certain products that come into contact with food and drink.

We display the material information and certifications that apply to the specific product when we have verifiable information from the manufacturer.

A good baby shower gift doesn't have to be big. Often, it's nicest to choose something that will actually be used during the baby's first months – or something special that the family might not have bought themselves.

Baby blankets, comfort blankets, soft textiles, gift boxes, and practical products for the early days are popular choices. If you don't know the family's style, neutral colors and useful products are usually a safe bet.

For a christening, naming ceremony, or a child's first birthday, we prefer gifts that can be used for more than just a few weeks. This could be a nice children's tableware set for their first meals, a blanket, a toy suitable for the child's developmental stage, or something special for the nursery.

Please consider the child's age rather than just the occasion. A gift for a two-month-old baby serves a different purpose than a gift for a child who is about to turn one.

Try not to start with the question ‘what does the child need?’ but rather with ‘what would the child or the family actually appreciate?’ We enjoy gifts that encourage play, imagination, and everyday life together – for example, wooden toys, role-play items, books and crafts, children's tableware, soft textiles, or something special for the nursery.
